Technical data

The Porsche Carrera 3.2 was built between 1984 and 1989 and the car succeeded the 911 SC.
The Carrera 3.2 witnessed the year of top sales in 1985 (21.000 built) and the terrible year 1989 when only 7000 Porsche 911 cars were built. The Porsche Carrera 3.2 was an evolutionary version of the 911 SC. Changed and improved were the engine; the cylinder capacity was increased from 3.0 to 3.2 liter, the Motronic-2 motor management system was introduced and the Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection was replaced by Bosch LE-Jetronic. The Carrera 3.2 was also fitted with thicker braking disks and the power brake system of the Porsche 911 Turbo.
In 1985 the Carrera 3.2 was equipped with a hydraulic operated gearbox and the car was delivered standard with "Turbo Look". Customers who did not like the Turbo look could order the car without the extra dress up. From 1987 Fuchs rims became standard items.
The biggest news during the Carrera 3.2 period was the introduction of the 911 convertible, the first Porsche convertible since the Porsche356!
In the year 1989 a Porsche 911 Speedster was presented which was produced in a limited series.
