The Jaguar
420 is the successor of the S-type, which was largely built parallel to
the MKII. The 420 came onto the market in 1960, and was fitted with a
double brake system, independent wheel suspension and a differential
with limited skid. As a result of these modifications, the 420 handled
like a dream. Moreover, the 420 was standard supplied with the powerful
4235 cc XK engine. The Jaguar 420 was a real Saloon, thus offering
considerably more space in the back than the MKII sport-sedan.
The Jaguar
420 was also supplied under the name of Daimler Sovereign. The Jaguar
420 was built until 1968, and the Daimler Sovereign until 1969.
