The Jaguar MK
I and MK II are the most characteristic Jaguar saloons. Almost everybody
recognizes the model unmistakably as a Jaguar.
The MK I was
introduced in the year1955 and was built until the year 1959. In
the year 1959 the MK I was replaced by the MK II. The MKII was dressed
up with a more luxurious interior and the exterior showed some changes
like a bigger rear window and a slightly restyled front.
The MK I was
a powerful car with a high top-speed of 118 mph. (190 km/h). Power was
provided by the legendary XK engine which gave Jaguar victories at Le
Mans races in the years 1951 and 1953 (3.4 litre version). The MK I was
built with choice of two engine capacities: 2483cc./120 bhp. and 3442cc./190
