Information
Morgan +8, year 1987. Colour British Racing green with a green leather interior trimmed with crème piping. Crème coloured vinyl tonneau cover.
In the early 1990íes, as the car had driven 1200 kilometers, this Morgan was extensively tuned by Colin Musgrove Racing in England. The cylinder capacity of the Rover 3.9 Litre V8 engine was increased up to 4.5 Litre. The engine was fitted with Cosworth pistons, a forged Crane crankshaft, a sports camshafts, larger valves, a lighter flywheel, a double Plenum intake and a special free flow exhaust system. The engine block was reinforced with cross bolts. With 295 (!) (measured) brake horsepower at the rear wheels this +8 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, supercar level! Of course the suspension and brakes were reinforced to cope with the additional power. The rear suspension was given a Panhard bar and anti-tramp bars. Additionally the car was given Koni shock absorbers all round. The original brakes were replaced by ventilated disc brakes all round and stopping power is given by special AP-racing calipers. For additional safety a roll over bar and four pint safety harnesses were fitted. Despite the extensive tuning, massive torque and power, the automobile has not lost
its excellent drivability
on the open roads.
