The Porsche 911/ 993 Turbo was built between the years 1995 and 1997. After Porsche ceased the production of the 911/ 964 Turbo customers had to wait over a year before the new Turbo model was presented. Just like the other 911/993 models the Turbo was also 80% changed and updated compared to it's predecessor 911/964 Turbo. Helped by the new powerful body design Porsche was able to welcome many new customers and the existing Porsche clientele approved the new model immediately. The exterior was redesigned and was given a more muscular appearance, the suspension was drastically updated and multi link rear wheel suspension was incorporated which was derived from the "Weissach construction" used in the Porsche 928.
Roadholding improved significantly; sensitivity for bumps and pits in the road was resolved and the oversteer character caused by the weight of the engine in the rear of the car was almost totally deleted. Driving comfort was improved and cabin noise was reduced resulting in a higher level of driving pleasure on long distance trips.
The 911/993 transmission featured a manual or Tiptronic 6-speed gearbox.
De 993 Turbo was equipped with two turbo chargers and two stage intercooling. The car was only available with four wheel drive. Other standard items on the Turbo were ABS, ABD and a limited slip differential.
Where the "normal" Porsche 911/993 already looks powerful and racy the Turbo looks even more bold and impressive. The Turbo shows 60 mm. extra body width, special skirts, special rims and Turbo front and rear spoilers. The six speed gearbox was equipped with longer gear ratio's to convert the 408 DIN hp. engine power in a top speed of 290 km/h.
