Technical data

The year 1960 saw the introduction of a new leaf in the Lancia tree; the Lancia Flavia. For the Flavia Lancia saw a position between the smaller Lancia Appia series and the larger Lancia Flaminia series. The birth of the Lancia Flavia introduced front wheel driven cars to the Lancia stable. By choosing the front wheel drive concept Lancia was able to build the Flavia less complex than the other model series like the Flaminia.

Innovative, complex, state-of-the-art constructions used by Lancia since 1922 made the cars very expensive. Now was the time to make an excellent car but also to get a grip on the costs to introduce the Flavia for a competitive price.
The Lancia Flavia was fitted with a beam rear axle and independent front suspension. The the car has disc brakes all round and a two circuit hydraulic brake system.
The following Lancia Flavia models were introduced:
Lancia Flavia Berlina (1960-1966), the Lancia Flavia Coupe (1962-1968), the Lancia Flavia Convertible (1962-1969), the Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato (1963-1967) and finally the restyled Lancia Flavia Coupe (1969-1971) as presented in this page.
