Maserati Kyalami, 1980 information
Photo overview - Technical data - Information
The Maserati
Kyalami 2+2 seater two door saloon was introduced in the year 1976 after
Alejandro De Tomaso had taken over the proud make. The automobile was
based upon the De Tomaso Longchamps which was designed by Tom Tjaarda at
Ghia. For Maserati the exterior was slightly altered by Pietro Frua. The
modern Longchamps/Kyalami design proved to stand the test of time very
well; the Longchamps was built from 1972 until 1990 and the Kyalami from
1976 until 1983. The cars featured a unitary bodywork structure,
independent suspension and disc brakes all round, and powerful V8
engines. The De Tomaso Longchamps was fitted with Ford V8 engines. The
Maserati featured thoroughbred Maserati power plants. First the 255 bhp.
4136 cc. V8 with double overhead camshafts (DOHC), and from 1978 the 280
bhp. 4930 cc. V8. Both cars are rare, the Longchamps production
consisted of 412 cars, the Kyalami production ceased after only 150 cars
being built. V8 engine (DOHC) Maserati

dull (less shiny) spots on the adjacent panels. This Kyalami features
the 4.2 Litre Maserati V8 engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The car
has been reconditioned mechanically by a well known classic car
restoration company, the car runs, shifts, brakes and drives perfect!

Dutch APK (MOT /TUV). This classic car was sold by Smiths-Veglia. Smiths - Veglia
